Seneca Rocks is located in the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia near Elkins. It is 900 feet above the North Fork River. There are climbing schools nearby and mapped routes available if you plan on climbing. If not, you can till get to an observation deck by hiking a trail for a breathtaking view. Hike to trails overlooking Seneca Creek and the Potomac River. Rock Climb. Go mountain biking.
Jefferson Rock is near Harper’s Ferry close to Charles Town WV. See views of the Potomac and Shenandoah River from atop and see the Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance.
Coopers Rock is near Morgantown. Find Coopers Rock State Forest. See the beautiful and unusual bands of Rock Cliffs along the Cheat River Gorge. Hike the trails here in the spring to see beautiful rhododendron and mountain laurel blooming. See Rock City, in Coopers Rock State Park, with its incredible rock formations.
Hike to the top of Pinnacle Rock near Bramwell closs to Bluefield WV along Rte. 52 in Southeast WVA. The Rock towers 3100 feet above sea level and the views are spectacular from atop. Take a Picnic. Trout fish in Jimmy Lewis Lake. Spend the day here to relax and unwind.
See the overhanging cliffs and massive boulders at Beartown State Park in the Potomac Highlands, Southwest of Hillsboro on the eastern summit of Droop Mountain. Hike the forests here.
Get to the top of Spruce Knob near Seneca Rocks close to Elkins, is the state’s highest peak at 4861 feet elevation. Hike off Spruce Knob by taking the rocky, 6 mile descending Huckleberry trail, to see some spectacular views.
